Star Wars Wedding with Rey & Kylo
PRESS PLAY FOR VIBES
When I saw the new trilogy for Star Wars starting with “The Force Awakens” I immediately fell in love with the characters, specifically Rey and Kylo as strong personalities.
I loved that their stories intertwined throughout the series and as a wedding photographer couldn’t help but wonder… what if they got to be together after the credits rolled? I knew one thing for sure, I wanted to do a light look and a dark look for Rey as the bride, because who knows which way she may go for her wedding day?!
Well I had to try it out. I’ve seen multiple Star Wars themed weddings but none based off the newer movies. Our couple are big fans of the series along with their kids who were so excited to hear about our theme, and they’ve been married for 10 years. It was the perfect way to celebrate their anniversary!
The only wedding in the Star Wars Saga – Padme and Anakin
Padme & Anakin’s wedding location
For the venue choice we took inspiration from Padme and Anakin’s wedding, the only one in the series, which was actually in a quite beautiful natural location.
Did we have light sabers? Yes! Scroll to the end to see! We didn’t want to go overboard with them in photos but added them right at the end because these two wouldn’t put them down for the whole wedding day.
This was SO fun to put this together and give these two a proper imagined epilogue! Read on to see the images and more about each detail!

We were unsure if we wanted to go with the 3 buns for Rey at first or do something different, but in the end it really seemed to capture her essence. Hair and makeup was done by the amazing Whik’d Hawaii.
The stationery done by Melissa Meyer is so fun, if you pay attention to the text she adds some really great details for the story of Rey and Ben!
I mixed silver and gold for our first look as I think Star Wars gives off a “metal” vibe. Masako Formals had the perfect headpiece and earrings for this!
BB8 made just a small classy appearance, being carried by Rey.
I wanted the table to be sleek and the plates pop with a black tablecloth. I loved these chargers and silverware from Hawaii Fine Linens, to make this such a beautiful tablescape.
These red thrones are from Ambient Rentals and I HAD to make sure we had them for Rey & Kylo’s throne to rule the galaxy together!
I went with heels with ropes that went up her legs for Rey’s bridal shoes since it seems like everyone’s clothes are always wrapped in interesting places in the Star Wars world.
We went with white pillars from Roam Rentals as the ceremony space look to give a more industrial feel instead of a typical arch.
This seating area from Roam Rentals was chosen for the clean lines in the chairs and metal table, with a pop of maroon as the underlying red that goes with Kylo’s… soul.
I had to have this dress for our “light” bridal look from “Asos Bridal” because it imitates the draping from Rey’s normal outfits!
The bar by Soda Pop Hawaii was such a fun addition, and these Star Wars glasses were cracking me up!
Here’s the first look at our “dark” Rey bridal look, with this amazing black gown from Masako Formals!
This cake was done by “Sunshine by Si” and I can’t believe how cool it came out! I love the black and white with a geode look. The cake topper is from a shop on Etsy and was one of my favorite touches because it’s specific to the new generation of Star Wars couples.
I chose a second location because the Star Wars universe is so diverse, and this one reminds me a lot of the showdown between Rey and Kylo in the third movie!!! (am I nerding out too much). I had to pop in some light sabers at this point…
Kylo gets a cape to go with Rey’s turn over to the dark side.
This Star headpiece is a little more reminiscent of a crown now and we went full gold here.
I hope you enjoyed looking through this Star Wars wedding almost as much as I enjoyed getting to bring it to life! May the force be with you.
