Destination Oahu wedding photographer

Specializing in the Hawaii islands

behind the lens

Hi, I’m Rae and I’m a destination wedding photographer.  I lived in Hawaii for 5 years and both my children were born there. The island is my happy place and I’ve photographed over 500 events on the islands.

A Hawaii Paradise to say I do

I know the island of Oahu the best (by heart actually), but I’ve been to Maui & Kauai over 10 times each for celebrations there and can help guide you with your planning.

Hawaii is unbelievably magical.  From the mountains, to the tropical gardens, to the beach sunsets all across the island, you can’t go wrong saying “I do” on the islands. Small elopements with just the two of you, going on an adventure session, or a large 200+ person affair, it’s all stunning when planned well with vendors who have your back and are going to create the magic with you.

Some favorite Oahu Wedding Venues:

– Kauloa Ranch (Paliku and Moli’i gardens)
– The Royal Hawaiian
– Loulu Palms
– Dillingham Ranch
– The Four Seasons Ko’olina

Some of my favorite Oahu Beaches: Makapu’u Beach
Lanikai Beach
Kualoa Regional Park

(you’ll have to ask for more suggestions around Oahu and on the other islands 😉 )

FAQ

A FEW OF THE MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SHOOTING WEDDINGS in Hawaii

Can you help me with planning?

Yes.  I think it’s super important to choose vendors who know the island well, especially if you are traveling from somewhere else. There are regulations and travel tips, and secret spots that only people who know the island will know about!

Which island is the best?

Impossible! Each island is different and special in its own way.  I know Oahu the best and it is the most populated of the islands.  It’s got beautiful beaches, lots of accommodations and shopping, and plenty of tropical greenery.  Maui has the road to Hana and a more luxe feel.  Kauai is a hidden gem and is truly a nature lovers paradise. Big island is for an adventurer who may want something unique.  You’ll love them all.

What time should we schedule our ceremony to begin?

It depends on when the sunset is during your date, which I can give you a custom recommendation when you inquire.  However, typically around 5:o0pm is a good general first guess here.  There are things to take into account like if you’d like to do a first look or not that will also be a factor!

How do we make our day really special?

Hawaii is an adventure, and we can talk about how to make your event capture the absolute dream of a location you’re in, while also making it a memorable experience that you’ll have for the rest of your life.

THE HEART

behind the photos

Luxurious details, sweeping tablescapes, they’re all great. I love em too.

But the reason I’m passionate about weddings is because of the unplanned moments.  I look back on my own wedding day and cherish  the people that showed up for me, the surprising tears and the wild dance floor tricks that maybe weren’t gonna be featured on a big wedding publication, but that make me smile.

I’ve photographed weddings in different languages, on an island, in the South, in New York, in LA… and here’s what I’ve learned is always true.

At the end of the day, weddings are always about humans at our best, celebrating ourselves and the people we love.
