BEST OF 2020 – Rae Marshall Photography

“Are you even real?”
Wow.
No one could have predicted the downfall that was 2020. I know we’re all glad it’s coming to an end, but we owe it to ourselves to look back on the good things even though there were many things lost.
I cannot BELIEVE how many sessions I still did this year, because a good 6 months out of the entire year were completely derailed.
Weddings (social gatherings) became illegal in Hawaii in March and are still limited to an incredibly small number, so almost all weddings have been moved to 2021. The ones you see below are styled shoots, small elopements, or from January-March.
My Year
I struggled a lot and accomplished a lot. I was alone in the house with my son for almost 2 months while my husband was deployed in April on complete lockdown. He came home in May and has been home more than ever, partially due to this pandemic.
I watched the destination wedding industry take a nose dive and friends move off island who could no longer afford to live here. I cried and cried and when I was done I decided to do something new with my time. I created a new course called “How to create a website that sells” and started to expand on my journey as a photography and business educator.
I thought business would still be slow when things finally started to open, and that was quickly proven wrong. My son is now a bustling toddler who is keeping us busy every moment, and we’re so in love with his energy and spirit.
I am starting to answer these questions every year, here’s my answers this time!
